Back home in NC

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back!
Back where I belong, at least for now, in subtropical North Carolina. Wisconsin was beautiful, but too chilly for me.
I don't think I've ever seen any hibiscus flowers growing there, like this beauty that was just screaming for me to take her lovely picture this morning!

I'm still busy getting unpacked and back to life here... adjusting to the summer schedule with both kids home all day, with nothing to do but play on their electronic devices and hopefully get out and get active, too.  Meet some neighborhood kids, I hope.

Anyway, I've got a lot on my mind from this recent trip back to my roots, lots of stuff and memories churned up in my head that I'm processing and will share more about in one of my other blogs, once I get around to it.

Thanks for joining me on my journey!  Have a good day, friend!!!

Wisconsin Trip 2017, Part 4: Museum Goofiness

Sunday Afternoon:

First we rode a train that looked something like this one that crossed our path driving in:

Then, for a little lesson on Wisconsin history, we visited this museum...

...where we posed with grumpy looking farmers...

...learned how to milk a cow... (theoretically)  (and yeah that's Grandma in the background)

                                                                      ....got stuck in the stanchion...

                                                            .....waited for a school bus....

...and tried (unsuccessfully) to flirt with the farmer.

Don't miss Parts 3,2, and 1!

Wisconsin Trip Part 3: Big Falls with Uncle Brad

First, a look at the Chippewa River as it runs through downtown Eau Claire.

Here's where the Chippewa and Eau Claire rivers meet.

Then we drive to Big Falls County Park, further up the Eau Claire river.

The Eau Claire River tumbles down the rocks in the background.
(This is not far from the place I almost drowned on a kayaking trip once,  by the way ...)

(My brother Brad's the guy in the red cap)

A tiring day, but just enough energy at the end for a close game of Chinese checkers. Colby won, Grandma came in 2nd, Brad 3rd, me 4th, and for once, Sam gave up her winning streak and humbly took 5th.
