Flight to Wisconsin

Yesterday my daughter Sam and I took to the air
to visit my parents, (her grandparents) in Wisconsin.
First flight was to Chicago. ORD.

 My silly girl.
and me.

I love crossing Lake Michigan, its vastness and waves resembling an ocean, to the shores of good ol Windy City Chicago. Wish we could stay awhile...

But we have another plane to catch, and people to see.
And some more beautiful clouds to rise above.

...and more silly mother-daughter bonding, of course!

ahhh, the second flight was smoother, quieter, less populated, more relaxing.  Enjoyed my cranberry juice and a book about a world traveler, seeking inner peace and meaning in the character's transitional time of life.

Feeling back home again, soaring over carefully plotted farms,                                                              seasoned with fresh spring snow.

Finally at Grandma & Grandpa's house, having some fun with their
                                           old-fashioned typewriter.  Goodnight!

                                                                   good enough. let's go!

lunch at nakato express. great japanese food.

our go-to for their great hibachi shrimp!

                                                      yeah we're happy girls.

i love making this girl laugh so hard the rice flies out her nose!

all that good shrimp made me sleepy. as usual, woke up to this:

Malcolm & Morgan had me pinned! One at my feet, one on my belly.

What's a mom to do?  Tap out and go back to sleep, of course.

Sunday recap

Today was a good day.
Here it is in pictures, my visual diary.

Slept in after working late last night,
tried out a new church.

It was nice. Not too small, not too big. Contemporary, but not too                                           trendy.  Emphasizes the "try 5" idea, sermon response time with communion and prayer in a setting that feels more comfortable to get up and move around, has opportunities to connect, grow, serve, and grow more deeply in small, same-gender "core groups".

Of course I still get very distracted by everything when trying out something new, so I had fun discreetly snapping my shoes on my phone, observing the woodwork on                                             the ceiling, critiquing the worship team.

Afterwards, back at home, was inspired to start
a "not Kim's closet", a parody of Kim Kardashian and
her constant display of expensive outfits.
Well, my version would be the el cheapo version,
where i show how it's also possible to put together
some normal, decent looks at ridiculously low prices!
                                                               such as this:

(and i need to play with some photo editing to put this in a nice display with arrows:)

                                                          shirt: $3, goodwill.
                                                   gap jeans: $4, goodwill.
                                                         boots: $40, target.
                                                  no paparazzi: priceless

ok, so all that work made me sleepy.  time for a nap.
oh but look!! the cats are one step ahead of me!
they prepared the way, one for my feet, one for my head.

                                                  ahh, purrrrrrrrrrr-fect pillow!!!

Nap complete, time for a walk.
                                                               Sights along the way...

a nice car visiting some neighbors.

a nice little copperhead visiting our street, as roadkill, that is.

and nicest of all, a baby squirrel my neighbor found in her attic!!

can we all say on the  count of 3: "awwwwwwww!!!"

yay! hope your Sunday was great too!
have a nice week!!!
