Top 10 reasons why being sick is fun

Ok, i lied, just 3 so far...

1. Lots of time to study the intricate designs on my very old quilt, handmade and given to me years ago by my now-deceased grandmother.  This quilt is full of memories, for it is literally a patchwork of fabric scraps from my mom's sewing projects over the years; mainly, our clothes!  Yes, our mother used to sew a lot of our clothes as kids, and so when I look at this, I think, oh yeah, there's part of the blouse I wore for that 9th grade school picture...there's those ugly plaid pants my mom used to wear...there's that old skirt I made in 8th grade sewing class...there's my sister's vest, and so on.  Memories.  

Reason #2, of course, Netflix, and the never-ending episodes of HIMYM.

Sick day

Hate being sick, especially so close to Christmas when there's so much to do, and I could use the money I'd be earning at work tonight...if I weren't sick.
Oh well.

man bun #2

Attention Target customers:  There has been an official manbun sighting in the main aisle near the checkouts.  

I know, I know, I'm silly,  I don't know why I'm so fascinated by these quirky pseudo-masculine hairdos, but I just know that one day these things will be so fun to look back on...

..kind of like looking at old history books and laughing at the funny white wigs George Washington and his bruhs used to wear.

This particular man bun was more in the genre of a girl's "messy bun", as it was quite messy, and unlike my last sighting, this one was not an all-in affair; the rest of his hair was hanging down like a much shorter, guy version of an Ariana Grande ponytail.

just a mommy moment

in the craziness of being a mom, sometimes i just need to stop and appreciate the small moments of fun and sweetness.  like today.  between dishes, laundry, shuttling one kid to a friend's house and leaving the door open for the other kid and his neighbor friends to come and go, baking stuff, etc, etc, i never had time for a shower. or even to get out of my pajamas.  no big deal.  it happens all the time.  so when i finally go and try to sneak in a shower at  4 pm while the little boys are out playing in the backyard, i am not quite quick enough, for as feared, i get this little knock-knock on the bathroom door:  "mommy, can we have a snack? can we have some drinks?"  Soooooooo i have to quick throw something on and race downstairs before the little guys make a huge mess of the kitchen.

just makes me laugh, how i can go downstairs like this, and with these guys still so young, they don't give me a second look as i hand out the juice pouches and cookies.  in a few short years, when they've become budding young men, i don't think i could do this.

sigh. gotta appreciate kids while they're young.
