(special shout-out to my videographer & lovely homeschooled daughter who patiently hung out outside the bag cage during my "power hour" today...thanks, Sam!!!)
Class led by the instructor Mr. Edwards. He introduces himself and says something like, "for those who don't know me....I'm a professional boxer, just had a successful fight on September 12th, finished it in 18 seconds, got another one December 31st. My plan is to win it in just one round. That's my goal..... What's great is not that I'm a boxer, but that I'm 47 years old. I'm not supposed to be able to do this but I am."
I thought that was cool. see, there's hope yet for us older dogs. inspiring. now get to work.
Worked the legs hard today, the first 30 minutes pretty much devoted to squats and mountain-climbers and other crazy leg-and-butt-work. Last 30 minutes, hitting the bags hard. I enjoyed his style, pretty straight-forward, not too many tricky hitting combinations. Just what I needed after being MIA from this place for awhile.
Felt good to release the fighter in me again. Weekends can be so hard. This was a treat. Can't wait to get back there again. Would love to be more consistent, even take some of their mitt training classes so I can finally practice these hits on another human, try to knock someone out for once, that'd be awesome. (did i just say that?)
ok, class dismissed. time to take on my most fiercest opponent: the rest of my week.
p.s. don't get me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.. ;-D
