Colby's so funny. We're at Burger King with my parents, their grandparents. He knocks over his chocolate milk and it spills all over the table, but he's completely oblivious to what's happening because he's so engrossed in opening the little toy that came with his kids' meal, happily babbling away even though no one's listening to him. So we're all scrambling, madly avoiding the brown lake of chocolate milk that's beginning to branch out into brown rivers encroaching upon everything else on the restaurant table. FINALLY I grab Colby's attention and dramatically shake my finger at the spreading river of chocolate doom that he's created, and I say, "Colby!!! Look!!! This is your chocolate milk!!" And in his usual carefree, calm manner, he just says, "oh. how did that get there?" And then Grandpa makes a joke about Colby's very scientific mode of discovery, noticing how Colby doesn't see it as a major intrusion of our meal or feel the least bit threatened that soon the milk will begin dripping onto his shorts and becoming warm sour stinky milk on his lap for the rest of the warm day. But he just notices the cause and effect of the whole situation.
Funny. Maybe we should all be a little bit more like Carefree Colby. Instead of panicking over the spilled milk in our lives, to just look at these weird events and intellectually, calmly ponder their existence and then move on. To even enjoy that moment of discovery.
Guess it all goes back to the saying, "don't cry over spilled milk".
That's my Confuscious for the day. photos on the way... :)
